Grain sampling

Jorgensen automatic samplers

Reliable sampling of grains — cereals, soybean and other grains — received at plants, storage facilities and terminals.

Jorgensen automatic sampler installed over grain truck

Jorgensen automatic samplers provide reliable sampling of received grain — cereals, soybean and other grains. They can be configured for one sample per probe, three independent samples per probe at different depth levels and with SMTP tip witness sample system to obtain a sample from the bottom of the truck.

Fast payback

Return on investment is typically achieved in 12 months or less.

Industry standard

Used in virtually every Argentine port terminal and oilseed plant, guaranteeing consistent results between merchandise received and delivered.

Safer operation

Eliminates the risk of falls from walking on the load and prevents occupational illness caused by the physical effort of manual sampling — platforms and life-lines are not always enough.

Process

How the automatic sampler works

A safe, fast and representative process — with no manual grain handling.

Diagram of the automatic sampler components
Components of the automatic sampling system
  1. 1

The sampling probe enters the load with the windows closed.

  2. 2

Upon reaching the truck floor, the cells of the lower, middle and upper sectors open simultaneously.

  3. 3

The cells are filled by gravity, without suction effect, similar to manual sampling.

  4. 4

Samples are automatically discharged into independent chambers.

  5. 5

Samples are removed via independent pneumatic transport.

  6. 6

The material reaches the sample collection cabinets.

  7. 7

The optional SMTP system obtains a witness sample from the floor level of the load.

Advantages

Advantages over manual sampling

Safer, faster and more reliable than manual sampling.

  • Lower operating cost
  • Sampling always reaches the bottom
  • Detection of non-homogeneous loads
  • Easy and convenient operation
  • High maneuvering speed
  • Hydraulic actuation
  • Pneumatic sample transport
  • Reduces workplace risks
  • Less staff exposure to falls or physical effort
  • Helps avoid contamination of silos with infested or excessively moist product

T-Scanner — NIR analysis integrated with the sampler

Combine the automatic sampler with the T-Scanner NIR analyzer to obtain instant quality readings (moisture, protein, oil and more) of every load.

T-Scanner NIR analyzer

The T-Scanner is Jorgensen's NIR analyzer designed to work together with the automatic sampler. It allows analyzing the sample taken by the probe in seconds, without manipulation, delivering objective quality data to the reception process.
